Yumi Asakawa
I began my career as an esthetician at the largest company in the industry. My exceptional skills and expertise quickly gained recognition, leading to an increase in repeat customers. My popularity grew to the point where appointments were fully booked up to three months in advance.
Striving for even greater technical excellence, I moved on to the spa at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, one of the world’s most prestigious luxury hotels. There, I provided treatments to numerous international dignitaries and celebrities. With the motto of “not just healing, but enhancing beauty,” I became well-regarded not only for my technical skills but also for my personalized consultations and advice. Many customers expressed their gratitude, saying they had learned the importance of home care.
Later, I took on a role dedicated to passing on my expertise, aiming to elevate the position of therapists in Japan fundamentally. I became an instructor at the international spa brand Pevonia Botanica, where I dedicated myself to training the next generation of therapists.
After 22 years in the industry, I fulfilled a long-standing demand from my customers by opening my own salon in the spring of 2016.
In July 2024, I expanded my business by opening a second location, Beauty & Spa chaleur⁺ Okinawa, inside One Suite THE GRAND (within Hotel AQUA AREA) in Okinawa. Nestled in the breathtaking natural beauty of Kouri Island, this luxury hotel spa offers an extraordinary escape from the urban hustle, providing a warm and high-end healing experience in a serene and scenic setting.
